Our work on the ground

Events and Initiatives

At Youth for Climate Restoration, we believe people care more when they’re truly involved. That’s why our youth leaders create and lead initiatives that make climate advocacy approachable, engaging, and meaningful from an early age. Whether it’s a lobbying workshop or an online art competition, our events are designed to be creative, collaborative, and fun, so more young people can connect with our mission and feel inspired to take action.

Workshops

High School

Y4CR also wants to serve the demographic that makes up their organization. We plan to host climate advocacy workshops for teenagers and high school students where participants will learn vital skills such as lobbying, writing letters of advocacy, and participating in phone banks. The workshops will also teach students how to communicate effectively with legislators and representatives to persuade them to support climate restoration policies. By reminding youth of the voice they hold, Y4CR wants to empower the next generation to take a role in shaping environmental policy.

Elementary

Y4CR has begun running climate workshops at elementary schools, most recently at Magical Bridge Playground in Palo Alto and Public School 165 in New York City. Through interactive activities, kids get to explore topics like climate restoration and what it means to take care of our planet. From the West Coast to East, these hands-on activities are based around the education that is needed in order to properly learn about what you can do in order to take care of our environment, even as a kid. Y4CR is excited to continue hosting these workshops, and we can’t wait to bring them to more schools and communities across the country!

Past Workshops

Climate Panels

Y4CR has begun hosting climate panels featuring scientists and speakers who are passionate about earth science, climate efforts, and restoration. So far we've held our first panel online, giving anybody who joined a space to ask questions and hear directly from those who are experts in their fields. An in-person panel is coming soon, and we're really looking forward to bringing that same conversation to life in a live setting. Y4CR is excited to keep growing these panels and to create more opportunities for people to connect, learn, and get inspired to take real action!

Media Campaigns

Y4CR recognizes the need for a diversity of mediums to bring the message of climate restoration and climate advocacy to a wider audience. To support this, we created an art competition where artists can submit artwork responding to a written prompt for recognition and a prize.  Art has the power to connect with people emotionally and inspire conversations about change. We will continue developing projects and competitions that allow people to share their creativity through the climate restoration movement.
